Please read these Terms carefully before using the app. By creating an account, signing in, using guest or trial access where available, or continuing to use the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Eligibility and Intended Use
Sharpen! for CSE is intended for individuals who want to study and practice for civil service examination topics. You are responsible for making sure that your use of the app is lawful in your location and that you have any required parental or guardian consent if local law requires it.
The app is a study aid only. It is not an official government examination system and it does not guarantee any particular exam result, passing score, ranking, or certification outcome.
2. Accounts, Sign-In, and Password Reset
The app supports Firebase Authentication for email and password sign-in. When you create or use an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep it current.
Password reset requests are handled through automated Firebase password reset emails. You are responsible for securing access to the email account linked to your profile.
You are responsible for all activity performed through your account. Do not share your password, reuse credentials on untrusted services, or allow other people to use your account.
We may refuse, suspend, or disable an account if we believe the account has been compromised, is being misused, or violates these Terms.
3. Guest or Trial Access
The codebase includes support for anonymous Firebase Authentication and guest trial behavior. If guest or trial access is enabled in your build or release, it may be offered without registration and may limit access to certain subjects, difficulty levels, question counts, or number of attempts.
Guest or trial access is temporary. We may change, pause, limit, or remove guest access at any time, with or without notice. Guest progress may be stored locally on the device and may not carry over if storage is cleared or the device changes.
4. Device Binding and Session Security
To help prevent account sharing and unauthorized access, the app can bind a registered account to a single device using a locally stored device identifier and a server-side session record in Firestore. If you sign in on another device or the session is marked as locked, access may be denied until the session is cleared or reset by us.
The app also uses browser or device storage such as localStorage and sessionStorage to remember device identifiers, guest mode state, and limited trial progress. Clearing those storage areas, reinstalling the app, or changing devices can affect how the app recognizes your session.
5. Quiz, Progress, and Educational Features
The app serves quiz questions, difficulty levels, explanations, and related educational content from Firebase Firestore. Your quiz results, performance history, progress summaries, and topic mastery data may be stored and later shown back to you.
Subject, topic, and difficulty access may depend on the content stored in the backend and on your current progress or score.
Quiz timers, scoring, unlock rules, and performance tracking may change over time as the app is updated. We may modify or remove any question, topic, level, explanation, or progress rule without prior notice.
Because this is an educational practice tool, answers, explanations, and content may not always be complete, current, or error-free.
6. Exam Integrity and Mobile-Only Restrictions
The app is designed for mobile devices and may block or restrict desktop access. During active quizzes, the app may use screen-capture protection, visibility checks, blur detection, and similar controls to reduce copying or cheating.
Leaving the app, switching tabs, minimizing the window, or triggering a protected screen state during a quiz may cause the quiz to blur, terminate, or invalidate your current progress.
7. User Conduct and Prohibited Uses
You agree that you will not:
- Use the app to break any law or regulation.
- Share accounts, passwords, or access in a way that defeats device binding or session controls.
- Bypass trial limits, device restrictions, or security protections.
- Copy, scrape, export, or bulk-download content without permission.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, data models, or protected logic except where law clearly allows it.
- Use bots, scripts, automation, or other unauthorized tools to manipulate quizzes, accounts, or analytics.
- Upload malware, disrupt the app, or interfere with Firebase, Google, or platform services used by the app.
- Misrepresent your identity or provide false account information.
8. Intellectual Property
The app, its branding, interface, software, layouts, visual design, and other original materials are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, redistribute, modify, or create derivative works from the app except as allowed by law or with our written permission.
Any question banks, explanations, images, logos, or study materials provided through the app remain subject to the rights of their respective owners or licensors. You may use them only for personal study and through the app itself, unless we say otherwise.
9. Third-Party Services and Data Transfers
The app relies on third-party services such as Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore operated by Google. Depending on your build and configuration, analytics or related Google services may also be enabled.
By using the app, you understand that your data may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, subject to the policies and infrastructure of those third-party providers.
10. Availability, Updates, and Suspension
We may update, change, suspend, limit, or discontinue any part of the app at any time. This includes account features, guest access, question availability, quiz logic, performance tracking, and security controls.
We are not responsible for downtime, service interruptions, Firestore delays, internet failures, device incompatibility, or issues caused by third-party services outside our control.
We may suspend or terminate access immediately if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created a security risk, attempted fraud, or interfered with the integrity of the app or other users.
11. Privacy and Data Handling
Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle account data, quiz activity, device identifiers, storage, and similar information. If these Terms and the Privacy Policy conflict on data handling, the Privacy Policy controls for privacy-specific matters.
12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise that the app will always be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, or error-free, or that it will meet your expectations.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost opportunities, exam outcomes, or other losses arising from your use of the app.
Your sole responsibility is to use the app carefully and verify important study or exam decisions independently.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted in the app or on our public legal page with a new effective date. If you continue using the app after the updated Terms take effect, you accept the changes.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms, account access, or legal notices should be sent to Sharpen@brains.com.ph.
If you request account deletion or data removal, we may need to verify ownership before taking action.
